Role: Head Internal Audit
Typically the role of Head of Internal Audit entails the following key responsibilities
• Lead the function and be responsible for defining and review of the scope of IA for the organisation.
• To plan, organise and carry out the internal audit function including the preparation of an audit plan which fulfils the responsibility of the department, scheduling and assigning work and estimating resource needs.
• To work closely with all Functions within the Company for defining Audit Calendar and Scope & Coverage.
• Ensure Audit Reports are followed up to confirm implementation progress and report upon non-compliance with Audit recommendations
• To report to both the audit committee and management on the policies, programmes and activities of the department.
• To coordinate coverage with the team and others and ensure well briefing on areas of concern
• To make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and recommendations and monitor management's response and implementation
• To review and report on the accuracy, timeliness and relevance of the financial and other information that is provided for management
• To work with management to ensure a system is in place which ensure that all major risks of the charity are identified and analysed, on an annual basis
• To provide both management and the audit committee with an opinion on the internal controls
Person specification
CA 10-14 years of relevant experience concentrated on Internal Audit. Experience should include leading a team in a large organisation(s)- leading MNCs or Indian.
Proficiencies-
• Knowledge of internal audit procedures, including planning, techniques and methods involved in conducting audits
• Knowledge of accounting standards and procedures.
• Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports.
• Ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit, particularly legislation changes and developments as they affect business and new auditing techniques and practices
• Ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with other staff and to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
