In India Operations were established in 1988, and has over 5,000 staff. In India, the organization’s operations consist of:
HR consulting business focusing on Indian clients.
HR outsourcing services focusing on Indian clients.
India Development Group focusing on application development.
BPO focusing on back office processing work, customer service for global clients, and client system configurations.
The company's software captive based in India (with staff across three locations that include New Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai) has about 1,200 staff and serves the software development needs of three lines of business and internal system needs within the company.
Background of the Position
This position would is based out of Gurgaon, India and reports to India Technology Group Leader. At a high level, this position provides leadership and strategic direction to about 600+ associates of the Benefits Development team in India.

In India, the objective is to create an outstanding captive which is a key component to an outstanding technology organization overall. The Global Application Development group is undergoing multiple strategic initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the operating model. This position would play a critical role in delivering this change.

Key Responsibilities
Directly responsible for IT applications, system and integration testing, process and development methodologies for the Benefits Development teams ( DB, DC and HM)
Build and maintain the highest level of process maturity in all areas, as demonstrated by CMMI, ISO 27001, COPC, SAS 70, etc. certification.
Manage, motivate and culturally align the function.
Communicate and champion IT strategy in India and globally.
Improve the effectiveness and productivity of the team.
Design and implement a new retention/career pathing strategy.
Build and maintain effective business relations across Hewitt’s senior management structure.

Key Skills / Experience
To be successful in this role the incumbent will have to be an energetic and pro-active self starter with a strong delivery focus and a demonstrable sense of urgency. Able to generate and sustain momentum, he/she will be able to demonstrate an ability to dive deep into detail while maintaining a clear view of strategic direction. With international experience built in an organisation where technology is mission-critical, key characteristics include the following:
Technologist, with relevant functional experience around benefits (e.g. DB, DC and HM) gained in an international business.
A strong delivery track record, and in depth experience of IT processes and methodologies.
Experience in building organizations with common, scalable platforms and highly mature, repeatable, streamlined software engineering, integration, and end to end delivery processes.
Track record of successful leadership at a senior level – savvy with regard to HR approaches and staff retention.
Evidence of ability to build relationships at all levels of an organisation and with external suppliers and service providers.
Track record of success in leading and managing change.
Able to prioritise deliveries and be pragmatic with delivery decisions.
Flexible and adaptable in approach.
Some key competencies for the role include:
Operations and service delivery skills, with a strong process mindset. At an operational level, the incumbent should possess very strong delivery capabilities to drive business efficiency.
Team leading skills – the incumbent should have prior experience in building and managing large teams.
Managing ambiguity – this is a fast evolving business environment where success depends a lot on being entrepreneurial and nimble. The individual should be able to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity and demonstrate the leadership to drive innovative solutions.
Relationship skills – the individual will need to actively deal with a mix of internal and external stakeholders.
Communication and influencing skills - to achieve the goals of driving lean and technology wide transformation, the incumbent has to be able to influence peers in the US.
